The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for grants aimed at supporting off-road vehicle safety education programs. County and local governments, Michigan school districts, and colleges and universities are all eligible to apply for funding through this initiative.
The grants are designed to help organizations develop and deliver training that promotes safe and responsible riding of off-road vehicles, including dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles, and side-by-sides. The DNR emphasizes that proper education is key to reducing accidents and injuries on trails and public lands.
Applicants can use the funds to create new safety courses, update existing materials, purchase training equipment, or cover instructor costs. The program prioritizes projects that reach young riders and underserved communities where access to safety training may be limited.
Interested organizations must submit their proposals by the deadline specified in the grant guidelines. The DNR will review applications based on program goals, community impact, and the ability to deliver effective education. Successful applicants will be notified after the review process is complete.
This funding opportunity reflects the state's ongoing commitment to keeping Michigan's trails and off-road areas safe for everyone. Officials encourage eligible groups to apply and help build a culture of safety among riders of all ages.
