The Connecticut Education Association has thrown its support behind Governor Ned Lamont as he seeks a third term in office. The endorsement, announced this week, also includes the union's backing for several state constitutional officers, signaling a unified front among Democratic incumbents heading into the next election cycle.

CEA President Kate Dias highlighted Lamont's record on public education funding and teacher support, noting his administration's efforts to stabilize school budgets and invest in early childhood programs. "Governor Lamont has been a steady partner for educators and students," Dias said in a statement. "His leadership during challenging times has made a real difference in our classrooms."

The union's endorsement extends to Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Attorney General William Tong, Comptroller Sean Scanlon, and Treasurer Erick Russell. All are running for reelection. The CEA represents over 43,000 active and retired teachers in Connecticut, making its endorsement a significant boost for any candidate.

Lamont, who first took office in 2019, faces a primary challenge from former state senator and 2022 gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski. The general election is set for November.
