BIRMINGHAM – Governor Kay Ivey on Friday introduced the Carbonell family, who are actively benefiting from the CHOOSE Act, an education savings account (ESA) initiative aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for families in Alabama. The Carbonells, residents of Birmingham, are proud parents to five children, including their 8th grader, Maria, and her younger siblings, Anna, Sofia, Diego, and Miguel.
The CHOOSE Act empowers families to tailor their children's education according to their unique needs and aspirations. Through this program, the Carbonells have been able to explore various educational options, ensuring that each child receives a personalized learning experience that aligns with their interests and strengths. The program not only supports traditional schooling but also opens doors to alternative educational paths, such as homeschooling and specialized tutoring.
Governor Ivey expressed her commitment to expanding educational choices for families across Alabama, emphasizing the importance of empowering parents to make informed decisions about their children's education. The Carbonells' story highlights the positive impact of the CHOOSE Act and serves as an inspiration for other families considering their educational options.
